7 Practical Tips that Work: How to Stay Motivated to Exercise

Morning alarm rings but you are tempted to sleep more. Why?

Due to a hectic work schedule, bad weather, low energy, and just a general lack of enthusiasm, you are tempted always to skip exercising.

This happens because our brain at that point of time is prioritizing relaxation over health benefits. We have all experience this. Isn’t it.

We all have our own excuses to skip workouts like – I don’t have time right now! Or I’m tired! Or Will hit the gym from tomorrow, promise!

What we require is a shift in mindset!

The positive news?  To stay active doesn’t require endless motivation. The secret is to build simple habits that make it easier to show up.

Seven Practical Ways to Stay on Course in Your Fitness Journey

1. Recall the reason for your start- Before you skip a workout, remember your goal and identify your motivation: The dress you want to fit in, the big event to attend or may be to treat your medical condition.

2. Plan your workout as a meeting at work- A major reason people stop exercising is seeing it as optional. Treat your workout like a work meeting or a doctor’s appointment, and block out time for it. Once exercise becomes routine, consistency will take care of itself.

3. Concentrate on advancing, not idealism- Skipping one workout doesn’t mean you’re a failure.

When people skip a day, they often quit because they think they’ve broken it. A better coping mechanism is simply to miss one day but never to miss two days in succession. A little effort is better than big lies.

4. Make an Upbeat Playlist to Get You Moving. Music can change your mood or thoughts.

Listening to uptempo songs before or during a workout can help boost your energy levels and make it feel less like a chore.

5. Pay attention to the signals from your body-Feeling lazy is not the same as needing some rest.

It is a wise choice to take a recovery day if you are getting over an illness, are really tired, or are in pain.

If you’re feeling unmotivated, doing something – even a 3* 10 -minute walk rule or light workout – is better than nothing.

6. Consider your future self. Your future health depends on each workout you do.

Staying active regularly cuts down the risk factors for lifestyle diseases, improves heart health, strengthens the muscles and lifts up the mood.

7. Celebrate Each and Everything- Acknowledge small milestones to stay motivated and build long-term habits. Use social media. Post gym stories, your fitness goals or track your fitness account. Followers and likes will motivate you.

In the end.

The key to staying fit is not finding motivation everyday but setting up routines that will work when motivation is lacking. Exercise need not be perfect or powerful. Nothing is more important than showing up.
